Plymouth Marine Sciences Partnership (PMSP)

The Plymouth Marine Sciences Partnership represents one of the largest regional clusters of expertise in Marine Science and Technology in Europe and is ideally located on some of the most researched estuaries and coastal zones in the world, building on over 100 years of research. One of the strengths of the PMSP is its ability to call upon a diverse range of experts with complementary skills to provide the necessary expertise to tackle some of our most challenging marine environmental questions.

Marine Biological Association of the UK (MBA)

The Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom (MBA) is a professional body for marine biologists with some 1200 members world-wide. The MBA has earned an international reputation for excellence and innovation in research, by the resident scientific staff and visiting research workers, including seven Nobel laureates.

Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML)

Their science is mission driven and delivers a valuable, integrated approach to solving problemsand providing solutions concerning the complexity of marine ecosystems and the unique bioresources they contain.

PML’s research mission blends understanding the major issues of concern today, with developing the expertise, tools and technologies neededto make significant advances in examining and solving the detailed processes that underpin marine ecosystems. They are therefore uniquely qualified to research and advise on many of the issues that form the debate on global change and sustainability in marine systems.

MarLIN

The Marine Life Information Network for Britain and Ireland ( MarLIN ) provides information for marine environmental management, protection and education. It is a centre of excellence in spatially based and time-series marine biological information and supports good stewardship in the marine environment.

National Marine Aquarium

The National Marine Aquarium was the first aquarium in the United Kingdom to be set up solely for the purpose of education, conservation and research. It remains Britain's foremost aquarium and in the six years it has been open it has attracted over two million visitors through its doors and thousands of enquiries by letter, telephone, fax and email.

The National Marine Aquarium is now firmly established as a source of reliable and accurate information and is a regular adviser to many newspaper, magazine, radio and television projects - the BBC's 'Blue Planet' Series is perhaps the best known.

Dartmouth Royal Naval College

High on a hill above the town of Dartmouth in Devon, south west England, Britannia Royal Naval College has been training Royal Naval officers on this site since 1905. In fact, naval officers' training in Dartmouth goes back to 1863, when the old wooden hull HMS BRITANNIA was first moored in the River Dart. The job has always been the same and is now encapsulated, as you might expect, in a mission statement:

"To train and educate Young Officers to meet the challenging standards of the front line."
