The Met Office is the UK’s National Weather Service. It is a Trading Fund within the Ministry of Defence, operating on a commercial basis under set targets.
They offer a public weather service, as well as contributing to the global understanding of climate change. Their research helps to inform the decisions and policies of businesses and governments across the world, and provides services to the NHS, armed forces, sporting events and transport (including shipping).
The Met Office website also has sections dedicated to learning, including educational activities and materials for schools, a look at the science behind weather forecasts, training, and a library and archive section.
