The marine sector industries rely on a good supply of new, skilled and enthusiastic employees who value a career in marine industries. Identifying the areas where there is a skills shortage is extremely important. The facilities then need to be made available to train people in these areas. Marine busineses have been working with each other and Marine South West to identify these gaps and then provide the resources needed to develop effective training programmes. They have developed a network of marine skills centres around the south west.
