Fisheries

The commercial fishing sector is a vital component in the development of sustainable communities and businesses in the South West.  Many rural and coastal economies rely on the presence of a fishing fleet, providing jobs in the industry itself, the extended sesctors of the fish processing and catering industries, boat-building and equipment manufacture.  They also benefit from the cultural diversity, historical interest and local distinctiveness that the fishing industry brings to the South West, and the draw this has for tourists and other visitors to the area.
