Planning a Trip
Planning your trip beforehand will help you avoid mishaps that can compromise your party's safety and ruin a trip. Remember, safety comes first!
Bring adequate clothing for the day – from waterproofs, warm clothing and refreshments to sun lotions, sun hats and wellington boots!
Check tides and weather before you leave
Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back – leave a phone number
Go with other people – it is always good to be with someone who knows the area
Watch the sea, it changes quickly and it is easy to get lost or cut off when you are busy enjoying yourself
Always leave plenty of time to get back from your trip
Rocks can be slippery even if the weather is dry
If you are concerned with the potential risks of organising an educational trip to the coast, there are a number of marine education providers who are trained to provide safe and engaging experiences for a variety of user groups.
