Education

The sea is a mysterious and compelling environment, full of mystery and danger.  It is characterised by underwater scenery as dramatic and varied as that on land, with rolling hills, dramatic canyons, barren deserts and rich oases.  The life that populates these landscapes is bound together by a unique moving medium, bringing life and sustenance to all that live there.  The waters of the sea are as fickle as the winds on land, sometimes calm and benevolent, at others fierce and wild.  Changes can be swift and unannounced.  All life must withstand these changes, cashing in on the riches when they arrive and holding tight when the seas roar.

Enjoying and appreciating the wonders of the sea leads to a desire to protect and nurture.  There are many different organisations that provide opportunities to experience and value our marine natural heritage through formal and informal education.  School groups, families, communities and institutions can all access learning through marine education around the coasts of Devon.  These pages provide links to these.

These education pages will be regularly updated as new projects and opportunities arise.
