Coastal Pathfinder
The Coastal Pathfinder programme is a project which provides nearly £11 million to 15 pathfinder authorities who will explore new ways of adapting to coastal change. Each of these coastal pathfinders will work with their communities, exploring new and innovative approaches to planning and managing coastal change. Through learning and understanding how coastal communities can adapt to coastal change, and what the costs and benefits of different approaches are, the programme aims to share the lessons learned from the coastal pathfinders, particularly on community adaptation planning and engagement and delivery of adaptive solutions.
The 15 successful coastal change pathfinder authorities were announced in December 2009, chosen using the criteria set out in the summer’s coastal change consultation, and will run until spring 2011. Each coastal pathfinder is listed below, with a link to an outline of their programme of work:
