Saunton Sands Forum Meeting November 2009

Saunton Sands Hotel, North Devon

With the cliff-top venue of Saunton Sands Hotel in North Devon flaunting miles of stunning views across a sandy beach, the Devon Maritime Forum meeting on the 4th November 2009 proved to be another successful and engaging event. The agenda showcased an array of engaging presentations on current topics such as the changing role of the Marine Fisheries Agency in its new guise as the MMO, and progress on the Marine Planning Implementation Project from DEFRA. Other speakers included the National Trust, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, Harbour Master, Coastwise, North Devon AONB, Finding Sanctuary and University of Plymouth, to name a few.

The workshops identified some valid gaps in marine planning and coastal management in which the Devon Maritime Forum might best be placed to address. Click here to access the workshop key points and workshop summary. The DMF is currently developing projects relating to these key points, looking to use DMF as a communications link with the MMO, promoting the fantastic resources of Devon's marine education and simplification of the marine planning process. Development of these projects will be promoted on this website and outcomes will be presented at the next Forum meeting.

Thank you to all delegates who contributed to this fantastic event and responding with great feedback. We look forward to seeing you all at the next Forum meeting in spring 2010.

This event was held in partnership with the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as part of their 50th Anniversary Celebrations
