Environment Agency

At the Environment Agency protecting the marine environment is a top priority. We know that the health of our coasts and seas matters enormously to people throughout England and Wales. We want to see a cleaner, healthier marine environment that will be a better place for people, business and wildlife.

We will achieve this by putting the environment first, and by working together with other regulators, businesses and coastal communities. We are determined to work effectively with Government to achieve its aim of making a real difference to our environment within one generation. We will do this through regulating discharges to coastal waters to ensure the quality of our bathing waters remains high, reducing the risk to communities from tidal flooding and preventing the illegal netting of species such a salmon and sea trout in our estuaries.
