 We provide a range of Core Services for our members.  A summary of these can be seen below:


Stakeholder engagement, networking and facilitated decision-making

  • Forum Meetings – Continue to deliver two Forum events a year around the coast
  • Stakeholder Engagement – a professional facilitation service to members as required
  • Horizon scanning – identify new and relevant policies, projects and initiatives
  • Active networking – working closely with other local, regional and national networks
  • Focus groups – facilitate the development of focus groups on specific key issues
  • International outreach – with partners in Europe and beyond as appropriate
  • Online Forum as part of the DMF website – developed as second phase of website

 

Communication, education and awareness-raising
  •  Website – up-to-date, professional and market-savvy website with embedded social networking links, interactive area and map functionality 
  • Newsletter – monthly e-newsletters to be distributed to the network
  • Raising awareness –support and initiate marine education and awareness-raising initiatives in Devon
  • Interpretive materials – deploy methods, materials and resources of relevance to the marine environment
  • Communicating best practice – communication tools for a prioritised range of sectors
  •  A professional and expanding marine education service – that complements other providers in the county / region
  • Volunteer service – marrying volunteers with opportunities and around the county

 

Informing planning, policy and legislation

  • Summarising policy –summarise and translate relevant policy for members in innovative ways
  •  Information provision – Identifying and filling gaps in information provision in partnership with other agencies
  •  Advocacy for maritime issues at all levels of government, policy and decision-making
  •  Providing a glossary of acronyms – for marine issues
  •  Consultations – summarise and contextualise consultations for DMF members
  •  Topic papers – develop a series of Topic Papers that address specific maritime issues in Devon
  •  Strategic overview – Continued to provide a strategic overview of the impacts and application of new legislation (EU, UK, Local and international)

 

Providing a central point of contact and information service

  • Database – manage a large database of contacts with a search function online for members
  •  Requests for information – managing and responding to requests for information from all sectors in line with DCC Corporate Policy and competencies on Customer Service
  •  Store of information – provide access to a store of information as a public reference library both online and in hard copy
  •  Interactivity – further interactive capacity / search functions f or website
  • Best practice tools – series of best practice handbooks for specific sectors and issues
  •  Project contact point – for maritime projects in general

Project management and development

  • Promoting the work of the Forum – Publicise the work of the Forum and its members
  •  A balanced membership – developed an increasingly balanced membership of all sectors
  •  Fit for purpose – developed a range of funding sources for financial security and stability
  •  Balancing strategic development with project delivery
  •  Functional steering group guiding actions of the DMF
  • Establishing specific sub-groups and other groupings from within the Steering Group
    Provide an open and transparent record of progress, programmes and targets on annual / regular basis
